Pricing and Booking Questions
What a job costs, when we can get there, and how you pay once the work is done:
Call (07) 3067 4119What is the call-out fee?
Every job comes with $0 call-out fees, and our flat-rate pricing means the price you approve before any work starts is the price on the final bill, with no hidden fees.
Do you charge extra on weekends or public holidays?
There is no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays, so a flexi hose that lets go at midnight on a long weekend costs the same as a Tuesday booking.
How can I pay when the job is done?
You can pay by card or EFTPOS on site once the work is finished, or ask us about Fix now, pay later if you would rather spread the cost of the job.
Can you come out the same day?
We aim for same-day where we can, and because our regular run covers the peninsula tip rather than a long drive in, a morning call often becomes an afternoon visit.
General Plumbing Questions
How the pipes are divided up between you and the utility, and what coastal conditions do to the fittings on your walls:
Call (07) 3067 4119Who owns which pipes around my home?
Unitywater is responsible for the public sewer and water mains under the street, but everything from the connection point inward, including house drains and gully traps, is the owner's responsibility to maintain.
Do you work on older weatherboard cottages?
Yes, we work on the weatherboard cottages built from the late 1930s to the 1950s across the peninsula tip, from wall heaters and older cooktops to original earthenware drains and galvanised supply pipes.
Why do my outdoor taps corrode so quickly?
Sea breezes here drive salt far beyond the beachfront, meaning brass tap bodies, meter boxes and galvanised fittings rust out long before their rated service life and call for replacements rated for coastal conditions.
Can you fix several plumbing jobs in one visit?
Yes, we can reseat a leaking mixer, replace a cistern washer and clear a slow drain in one booked visit, which saves repeat call-outs on older homes with a list building up.
Drainage and Hot Water Questions
The two systems that fail hardest on this peninsula, and the reasons behind them:
Call (07) 3067 4119Should I repair or replace my hot water tank?
Age and condition decide it, because a tank with a rusted base or a cylinder well past its anode change is usually a replacement, while failed valves, elements and tempering gear are repairable.
Why do my drains keep blocking again?
Most house drains here run through earthenware laid after the 1935 building boom, which cracks at the sockets, so beach-ridge sand and tree roots find their way in and the line blocks again after every clear.
Can a king tide stop my stormwater from draining?
Yes, because the council's storm tide overlay traces the shoreline and the low streets near the boat harbour take rain and tide together, so surcharging pits there back up until the tide drops.
Can grease from cafes block a residential line?
It can, because fat and fish waste from the harbour seafood trade and the cafe strip run into shared lines that residential streets connect to, and a choked main backs up every house on it.
Emergency Questions
What counts as urgent, and what to do in the first few minutes while a plumber is on the way:
Call (07) 3067 4119What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Water you cannot shut off, sewage overflowing a pan, a smell of gas and a total hot water failure all count, and the emergency pages on this site step through each one.
Are you available in the middle of the night?
We are available 24/7, 7 days a week, so an overflow above a cafe kitchen or a failed heater in a holiday unit at 2am is still a call we answer.
What should I do before the plumber arrives?
Turn the water off at the meter, for gas leave the property and call from outside without flicking switches, and keep clear of any pit or drain that is surcharging.
How do I book a plumber through Scarborough?
